All About Me!

Mrs. Miller

Biography

Philosophy of Education

I have always enjoyed learning and sharing information that I have acquired with others. Any little fact that I find interesting, I am eager to share with anyone around me. I believe that all children are born with an innate ability to learn, and given the proper motivation and opportunities are able to enjoy learning. I believe it is a teacher’s responsibility, along with a child’s family and community, to make education enjoyable as well as informative. Education, to me, includes not only the core curriculum of mathematics, science, English, social studies, et cetera, but also critical thinking skills and social skills. Students must become well-rounded to be successful in life.

To be a first class educator one cannot resort to just one method or one philosophy. What works best for one teacher or student may not be as productive for another. It is important to plan lessons that will correspond to the students rather than trying to make the students conform to the lesson. I believe that acknowledging that many different methods might work in a classroom enables me to be able to choose exactly which method will work best for my classroom. A classroom is essentially a miniature community. It is in constant motion, forever changing and always active. It is important to me that I can keep up with my students and conform to their needs, while still providing them with the information they need for a first class education.
